Dance my troubles away – Dalida

Dalida sings “Dance my troubles away“, a song whose melody sounds more than familiar. Dalida puts lyrics to Zorba’s dance, one of the most famous music themes not only in Greek music, but also in international music.

Zorba’s dance, the known sirtaki dance is considered the most recognizable and characteristic Greek songs; in its original version there are no lyrics, and the music is composed by the internationally acclaimed composer Mikis Theodorakis. The original version was heard for the first time in the movie Zorba the Greek, with Anthony Quinn, shot on the island of Crete.

Dalida, the famous French singer sang the vocal version of the song which was released almost 11 years after the instrumental version and the movie, which became instantly famous. Dance my troubles away is not as known as the original instrumental song, although French recognize it due to the popularity and artistic genius of singer Dalida.

In any case, those who know about music, suggest that the numerous versions and adaptations of songs show us the success of the original song.
