Fovamai – Mple

Mple sing Fovamai, a popular Greek song, a ballad that in English means “I am afraid”. The song is written by Mple and sung by Theodosia Tsatsou, the former singer of the band.

“Fovamai” expresses, both in its melody and lyrics, that big fear that somehow always awaits you when in love. Fear of loving, of being loved, of letting yourself belong to someone else or someone belong to you, and of course, fear of a deception, betrayal, falling out of love…And yes, that’s what’s happening here – drifting apart, maybe not falling out of love exactly, but falling out…anyway! “You are too close, you, are too far”.

When love loses its shape and color, when its ruined by some “external forces” but it’s still there, in familiar habits and remorseful latencies: “I drink my soul away. I love you and leave”. And time after time, it’s a postponement of what is unavoidable, a fear of closing the door for good… “I am killing a verse, take me with you, you are too close, you are too far”. Forgetting yourself in the known arms helps to forget, to reverse time and decisions at least until…”Sunday is the time”… As long as it’s not today!

    Mple – Fovamai (I’m scared)

    English Lyrics:

I fly through your hair,… See More
    intoxicating my moments,
I love you and I’m fading away.

I melt on your two arms,
    killing a verse,
    take me with you.
    You are too close,
    you are too far.

    I’m scared,
    I’m scared,
    I’m scared,
don’t listen to what I’m saying.
    I’m scared,
    I’m scared,
    I’m scared,
don’t listen to what I’m saying.

    I die,
    I hear the sound of
    your name and I die,
    I let my soul go
    into burning kisses.
    Look at how much
    I’ve changed,
    weeping like a god,
    time stuck on a Sunday.
    You are too close,
    You are too far.

    I’m scared,
    I’m scared,
    I’m scared,
don’t listen to what I’m saying.
    I’m scared,
    I’m scared,
    I’m scared,
don’t listen to what I’m saying.
