I kardia mou – Giorgos Mazonakis

Giorgos Mazonakis sings the song “I kardia mou”, one of the best Greek love songs we heard for the first time in the 90s, by the band OPA at that time. I kardia mou is translated to “My heart” in English.

The lyrics of the song “I kardia mou” refer to the love that comes and becomes the reason we live and breath for, the reason for our heart to beat. Every beat is a sign of the person we love, a caress, a companion.

But so many times we have felt our heart stopping; we cannot breath because our beloved one is not with us, is not close to us.  Every beat of our heart becomes painful, slow and tiresome. We just wait to feel the breathe of the person we love to feel our heart beating again with joy and steadily. Every beat of our heart can be a reason to hope.

The song I kardia mou is played here in a slightly different version than the one we got used to by OPA, who used a more rock and alternative sound. Giorgos Mazonakis gives a more popular sense to the song, reminding it to us and giving us a new boost to love it again.
