Greek Music in the Balkan Square in Thessaloniki



Greek music along with music from the Balkans will be presented in Thessaloniki in a festival called “Balkan Square.

The Festival will host some of the most known Greek Singers such as Alkistis Protopsalti, Maria Farantouri, Elli Paspala, Savvina Yannatou, Stefanos Korkolis, Eleni Tsaligopoulou and more. Greek Dancing and Theatrical Groups will be also appearing, presenting Greek dances and plays.

Along with the Greek artists, the audience will have the chance to see singers and dancers from Balkan countries, such as Serbia, Turkey, such as Dilek Koc, Albania and Bulgaria.  During the festival days there will be exhibitions of paintings, book presentations by Greek and Balkan authors, photography exhibitions and programs for children.

The Mayor of Neapoli in Thessaloniki that is hosting the festival, Mr Nathanael Ladopoulos, suggested that the “Balkan Square” raises hopes for a better and peaceful future, and serve the purpose of the city to create an international environment that will work as a factor of friendship and collaboration in the region.

The opening event on August 30th will be an event dedicated to Peace, in collaboration with the Metropolitan Church of Neapoli; many religious leaders and political officials from many Balkan countries will be present for a concert of Greek Music by Maria Farantouri and Savvina Yannatou.
