Aphrodisiac – Eleftheria Eleftheriou

Aphrodisiac is the title of the Greek song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, performed by Eleftheria Eleftheriou. Aphrodisiac is a song with evident Greek sounds and the bouzouki music is combined with a modern electronic sound.

The national final for the selection of the Greek song for Eurovision 2012 took place a few days ago. During the two-hour broadcast, four songs claimed the nomination of our country’s representation in Baku. The final verdict was in favor of «Aphrodisiac», with the young singer Eleftheria Eleftheriou. The music of the song is composed by Dimitris Stassos, while the lyrics are signed by Mikaela Stenstrom and Dajana Loof.

This is the 33rd participation of Greece in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest ! This year’s competition will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan. Our country has been drawn to compete in the first semifinal of the contest on 22 of May and the final will take place on May 26. Good luck Greece!

Eleftheria Eleftheriou – A short Bio

Eleftheria Eleftheriou was born on 12/05/1989 in Paralimni, Cyprus.

Since she was little, Eleftheria Eleftheriou liked painting, running, dancing, and singing. In primary school she started piano lessons, music theory and harmony. At the age of 15 she started having voice lessons and from the 16 she was already a very popular soloist of the orchestra of the Cypriot TV (RIK).

When she finished school she decided to study Music and Performance at the University of Surrey in London.

Eleftheria Eleftheriou admits how much she likes to be on stage, singing and watching people smile and have fun. Although in the past she had to do more with artistic and folk music, she considers herself a pop-rock singer. “This is the music I listen to: pop, r’n’b, jazz, soul, and gospel”, she says.

Eleftheria Eleftheriou became known through her participation in the talent show The X-Factor 2 and although she was not ranked first,she certainly stole the limelight. Immediately after leaving the show, she appeared alongside Sakis Rouvas live in Athens. The same year, she also appeared with great success on the side of Nikos Vertis in Salonica.

In the fall of 2011 Eleftheria Eleftheriou moved to the Universal Music company, ready to take the big step in her career. Her participation in the Eurovision 2012 is the vehicle to become more known to the wider public.
