The Island refers to the island of Spinalonga in Crete, a small island that used to be the “exile” of the lepers in Greece. The Island tells the story of Alexis Fielding, a woman on the cusp of a life-changing decision.

She knows only that her mother, Sophia, grew up in Plaka, a small Cretan village, before moving to London. It is a vivid, moving and absorbing tale that became an even more absorbing Tv series. With a 4 million euro budget, the series “To nisi” (The Island) is the most expensive in Greek television history.
