Eisai esy o anthropos mou – Andriana Mpampali

Andriana Mpampali sings the song Eisai esy o anthropos mou, a lovely Greek song which translates to “You are my man” (my better half ) in English. It is the main song – theme of the very successful Greek TV show “The Island” based on the homonym book written by Victoria Hislop.

The Island refers to the island of Spinalonga in Crete, a small island that used to be the “exile” of the lepers in Greece. The Island tells the story of Alexis Fielding, a woman on the cusp of a life-changing decision.

Alexis knows little or nothing about her family’s past and has always resented her mother for refusing to discuss it. She knows only that her mother, Sophia, grew up in Plaka, a small Cretan village, before moving to London. Making her first visit to Crete to see the village where her mother was born, Alexis discovers that the village of Plaka faces the small, now deserted island of Spinalonga, which, she is shocked and surprised to learn was Greece’s leper colony for much of the 20th century.

It is a vivid, moving and absorbing tale that became an even more absorbing Tv series. With a 4 million euro budget, the series “To nisi” (The Island) is the most expensive in Greek television history.

The song Eisai esy o anthropos mou is a touching love song that reflects love and commitment in the best possible way. It’s a song about all these people who cannot live without their better half, their significant other.

Andriana Mpampali sings the song in its modern adaptation, since the song Eisai esy o anthropos mou was originally sung by Sotiria Mpellou in 1950, being a laiko song.
